Blackmoor Gate Market - Monday 12 May 2008

Exmoor Farmers are delighted to report a large entry of sheep with 600 sheep sold being a large entry of Grazing Ewes with 300 penned selling to a marvellous trade to top at £70 from Messrs. D. & M. Ridd & Son. Other Ewes selling to £58.50 A. Dunn, £52 J. Dunn, £50.80 C. Clare, £48.50 I. Harding, £47.50 D. & M. Ridd, £47.20 D. & P.R. Rawle, £43.50 C.J. Facey, £43 Mrs. A. Hall. Strong demand for all types on offer. Store Hoggs selling to £70 D. & M. Ridd. Grazing Rams selling to £35.80.
An entry of 170 Couples on offer selling to a top of £146 also at £144, being part of the Blackmoor Gate Young Farmers Show and Sale, who had others at £130, £126 and £108.
Commercial Couples topping at £140 Messrs. Galloway, with others to £112 D. Ridd, £96 D. West, £93 M. Probert. Overall a fast trade for all types on offer but a shortage of younger Ewes.
