ITEC Equine Sports Massage Diploma
(Career Course)


WEEKEND MASSAGE COURSES

These courses aim to teach people how to help their animals by using the age old technique massage.

Course Content:

Day 1 will cover:
Anatomy
Muscles – structure and movement
Equine movement
The surface anatomy of the horse.

Day 2 will cover:
Massage – theory, efforts and techniques
Practical application of techniques (student on student)
Demonstration on a horse
Students working on a horse.

Course Fee: price on application

Early booking is recommended as this course only takes 10 students at a time.

THERAPUTIC USE OF LONGREINS FOR FITNESS AND RETRAINING

This course is to demonstrate use of Massage and Medicine Therapy to rebuild and retrain the horse following loss of performance or injury.

Course Content:

This course is run over a weekend and will cover:

Equine movement and conformation
Looking for and recognising problems
Discussion on the use of the specialist tack and additional aids including massage.
Practical longrein demonstration
Students working with longreins

Early booking is recommended as numbers are limited to 8 students. Preference will be given to students who have attended a massage course or are employed.

ITEC COURSE

Leading to a Diploma in Equine Sports Massage

Curriculum for a course in Equine Anatomy, Physiology and Massage leading to a Diploma Examination by I.T.E.C. (The International therapy Examination Council)

This course will provide the foundation and understanding required to enable successful graduates to be recognised as professional masseures - Post Graduates are currently working in United Kingdon, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain, South Africa, Greece, Italy and North America.

Entry requirements:

Age 21 at the commencement of the course.
I.T.E.C. Diploma in Human Anatomy, Physiology and Body Massage (or equivalent) Please send a photocopy of your certificate.
5 passes at G.C.S.E. (one in English) or proof of an equivalent educational standard. photocopies of education level)
Overseas students will require a certificate from a recognised educational authority showing an equivalent standard to the above.
Students must provide written proof that they have worked with horses, preferably in a professional yard or equivalent for a minimum of 4 years.

Details of Course:

Minimum course length 100 hours. This includes contact tuition (5 weekends over a 6 month period), distance learning, private study and practical sessions with an ITEC Equine masseur and a vet.

Examinations both written and practical and a 3.5 thousand word topic relevant to the course.
