Wheddon Cross/Cutcombe Police Report 2025/26

As reflected in the wider Exmoor Beat, there has been very little crime reported this year (2025/26).   Apart from minor parking issues and a suspicious incident at the garage there have been few reports to Police.   A culprit who was involved drive offs (failing to pay for fuel) at the service station, has been subsequently convicted at court.   There were some thefts from vehicles at Dunkery Beacon.   Crime reduction visits have been made to campsites and accommodation providers with information for visitors to encourage them not to leave valuables in their vehicle when visiting the moor resulting in a reduction in incidents.

We have continued with regular visits to Cutcombe Market, engaging with the farming community and promoting farm watch.  A very successful trailer marking session took place on 8th April which was supported by the NFU.

A pop-up Police Post was held at the recreation ground on 23rd May offering Cycle registering and advice.

We continue to work with the local schools, and some local children were involved in the Mini Police project which took place at Exford earlier in the year.    In the wider area, we have arranged several fraud information events.    If you would like a similar event in your village, please let us know.

We are approaching the anniversary of the tragic collision which saw our community come together showing great kindness and support not just on that day but in the months since.
